After a high of 94 degrees recorded for Tuesday in Dayton and Cincinnati, overnight lows are expected to fall to around 73 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Strong storms Tuesday evening brought reports of damaging winds, hail and torrential rainfall, including the following:
- Quarter-sized hail, about 1 inch, reported at 7:19 p.m. in Landen, about five miles south of Mason in Warren County.
- Trees were reported down between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Webster Street, the 4100 block of Old Riverside Drive, and 300 block of Pine Ridge Road, all in Harrison Twp.; and at East Fairview and Newport avenues in Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dispatch Center. Also in Dayton, trees were reported down to the dispatch center between 9:03 and 9:31 p.m. in the 1500 block of Danner Avenue; 1600 block of Nicholas Road; at Negley Place and Orth Avenue; at East Helena Street and Riverside Drive; in the 40 block of Victor Avenue; the 1100 block of Windsor Avenue; the 2600 block of North Main Street; and 240 block of West Riverview Avenue. A large tree was reported down at 8 p.m. on East Birch Road in Fairborn to the NWS.
- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at 4:30 p.m. recorded wind gusts of 51 knots, or about 59 mph, during a storm that prompted the NWS to issue a severe thunderstorm warning. Warnings were issued during evening storms in Butler, Champaign, Clark, Greene and Warren counties. All have since ended.

Temperatures will be comparatively cool at 79 degrees for Thursday. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected, mainly before 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms through midnight followed by a slight chance of showers between midnight and 1 a.m. Overnight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 62 degrees.
The weather finally dries out for the end of the workweek.
Skies will be mostly sunny for Friday with a high near 78 degrees. Some clouds move in for partly cloudy skies Friday night with an overnight low around 58 degrees.
Rain chances return to start the weekend with a chance of showers after 2 p.m. Saturday. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 77 degrees. Overnight will be mostly clear with a low around 60 degrees.
Independence Day will be mostly sunny with a high near 83 degrees.
The night skies will be perfect for fireworks shows, with mostly clear skies. Overnight temperatures fall to around 62 degrees.
